As far as i know there isn't a magical program that will remove compleetely the lyrics and leave the music.
Some programs try to remove the centre channel as they call it because usually singing is in the centre and other instruments are left and right.
But this method doesn't always work. Sometimes you might here some of the instruments missing if you try to do this or you might still here the reverb of the voice after the removal since the reverb sometimes is in stereo.
I personally sometimes play with adobe audition trying to remove lyrics but most of the time i am not happy with the result.

Hi,
could one not search for the instrumental version of a song?

btw, I'm wishing for the other way round. Wish to get acoostic stuff only.
Searching for instrumentals will yield greater results as to that of acoostic.

Yeah there is no magic program that willdo this perfect. There are ways to get better result if you can useone of those programs that show you the different layers that mae up the music file and you can figure out which one is the vocals and stragetically hightlight it for removal. Either that or you can try getting really surgical withsome EQ I have seen a friend of mine do this with the eq in sound forge or T-Racks 24. Though i do believe both of these methods require some sight.
